stop buying bottled water
Saw this on the Seattle Times today: Stop buying bottled water, Nickels urges Seattleites
I actually have cravings for Seattle tap water sometimes. If only Seattleites knew how nasty DC water is. I honestly think I can taste the pharmaceuticals in our water. Still, I’m not dying of any water-borne diseases, and it’s relatively safe compared to tap water in China, so I guess I’ll continue to drink it for now.
Hey Victoria,
Those are some fiery posts you have there. And I definitely agree with you on many of those topics. I majored in environmental science and my favorite class of all time is social justice, so I definitely have a concern about the less fortunate and the environment. And I also never ever buy bottled water unless I have to. And yes, I hate materialism with a passion. I know the bible talks more about money than any topic and is actually the reason why Sodam and Gommarah was destroyed. I think too often, cheap grace has led people away from goodworks in the protestant faith. But as christians we should care about this world because we care about the next. O and this Friday I was actually planning to collect an offering for world vision to help some of the hurricane victims in Myammar. Mei-ye also sponsors five kids from world vision.
Well anyways, hey I just wanted to get the word out on a couple of things. First I wanted to see if you or anyone else you may know might interested in attending this retreat in New York from July2-6. Its 80$ and it has a great balance of spiritual growth and free time. Food and lodging is provided. This is the website. http://nysummerconference.org/
The second thing I wanted to get out is more info about the adult sunday school coming up. This is more detailed outline of the class. I was hoping to see if you knew if any young adults or people who are struggling with their faith who may benefit from such a class.
Seeking to Understand the Christian Faith is the name of the class. It will seek to approach the bible from a non christian perspective.
Extroadinary Claims Require Extroadinary Evidence
week 1: (May 18) It will start by introducing why you should seek. What christianity is not. What it is.
week 2: (June 1) It will discuss what is the historical evidence for christianity. Outside sources for the bible. Translation of the bible. Credibility of the new testament. Historical accuracy of the bible.
week 3: (June 15) How does the bible relate to science. Does Science support christianity or does not?
Week 4:(June 29) How does Christianity make sense philsophically? Why is it superior to other philosophies.
This is a really long comment. Maybe I should’ve e-mailed you. Anyways, glad to see someone with a similiar passion.
